Field Technical Service Specialist
Polycoat Products - Spray Elastomers Division
Role Summary
The Technician will be responsible for supporting OEM equipment and applications, in addition to supporting both the research and development spray elastomer team and the sales team for equipment support, spray training, in-house and in-field application testing, equipment repair, and in-field equipment installations.
Responsibilities
Equipment installation of high-pressure polyurea/polyurethane spray equipment.
Equipment training and customer-facing application demonstrations.
Host application demos and training on and off-site.
Educate and train customers on proper surface preparation.
Perform or oversee the application of test samples/panels, polyurea samples, and parts.
Service in-house spray lab robotics and spray equipment.
Perform or assist with coating inspections, in-field root cause analysis, failure identification, and corrective action implementation.
Collaborate with other departments on product development projects.
Work with the Spray Elastomer sales team for pre-installation review to ensure successful installation and training.
Assist other Polycoat companies or departments with guidance related to surface preparation and plural component high-pressure applications.
Role Specific Skills
Works effectively in a general business environment to communicate with owners, engineers, and spray applicators.
Detail-oriented, well-organized, and possess an attention to detail.
Basic computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Knowledge of Graco plural component equipment (electric and hydraulic).
Work closely with team members and other technicians.
Mechanically inclined with an understanding of general equipment related to polyurea spray elastomers and coatings.
Must be able to work around all types of primers, topcoats, coatings, and their associated cleaners/solvents.
Must be able to wear all required PPE at all times relevant to the application.
Education
Minimum High School Diploma.
AMPP (NACE/SSPC) or PDA Certifications.
· Preferred Education and Certification(s)
PDA Basic or Advanced Spray Applicator
Graco Master Certified Service Training (Foam and Polyurea)
AMPP/NACE CIP LEVEL 1, CCI LEVEL 1 or AMPP/ SSPC C1
Experience
At least five (5) years of related polyurethane or polyurea spray elastomer experience.
In depth knowledge and experience with Graco Reactor line equipment and guns, with a specific focus on Graco Hydraulic Reactor spray machines (H-XP/HFR) and Graco Z-Series pumps.
Knowledge of Graco airless plural component application equipment.
Travel
Position requires approximately 30% mixed domestic and international travel (Canada and Mexico).
Requires travel to all company locations in California, Texas and Georgia as needed.
Language
English required, Spanish preferred.
